As an organization created by and for the people of Greater Boston, Boston Cares' base of financial support comes entirely from the community in the form of grants and donations from private foundations, corporations and individuals.  In recent years, we have benefited greatly from the services provided by National Service Fellows, whose support originates with the Corporation for National and Community Service.  We are not a United Way agency, and do not receive government or state grants. Committed to making our services accessible, Boston Cares provides services free of charge to our non-profit partners.

The generosity of the community helps to support Boston Cares' year-round programs, develop new ones, and expand our ability to assist the large number of non-profit organizations with which we work. In addition, support of Boston Cares gives us the resources to not only encourage a deep commitment from our current volunteer base but to strengthen our ability to recruit new volunteers. In essence, supporting Boston Cares allows our unique model of volunteerism to leverage human resources to create local community involvement.

Boston Cares has seen a dramatic growth in requests for our services from non-profit organizations throughout Greater Boston as well as a marked interest from people joining our rapidly growing volunteer corps. Although such an enthusiastic response from the community is exciting for Boston Cares, we still face some rather daunting financial obstacles and needs. We hope the community will continue to recognize the importance of our work and continue to support us in our efforts of improving the lives of so many people in Greater Boston.

Below are some of the ways Boston Cares engages in fundraising:

For more information about supporting Boston Cares, or if your company may be interested in a service project or year-round program, please contact Rick Wallwork, Associate Director, at rwallwork@bostoncares.org or 617-422-0910, ext. 202.

Annual Appeal
Each year, Boston Cares sends out an Annual Appeal to our volunteers and friends, encouraging them to support the organization if they like what they see and the projects they have experienced. Members are asked to contribute an amount that is comfortable for them and within their means. This, of course, is optional - our members are never required to contribute anything other than their time, commitment and enthusiasm to Boston Cares. It is because of their dedication that Boston Cares is able to do all that it accomplishes on a daily basis.

United Way Campaign
Many businesses will be providing pledge sheets to their employees to encourage giving. Should you choose to make a contribution, please consider Boston Cares as a beneficiary. You can elect to have your pledge got to Boston Cares by writing our name and code number (#102065) in the section titled "Distribution of My United Way Gift". We greatly appreciate your continued interest and support.

Fundraising Events
In addition to our monthly volunteer projects, Boston Cares organizes two annual events: our city-wide Boston Cares Corporate Volunteer Day in May and Summer Nights, City Lights in August. Both events assist us in raising the funds needed to support our programs year round.

Boston Cares Financial Supporters
Our Board, staff, Project Leaders, and volunteers work hard to transform our community's energy and concern into civic action. Community support makes that work possible. We are grateful to our corporate and foundation partners.
